포토트랜지스터 제품군의 제품은 바이폴라 트랜지스터와 유사한 방식으로 동작하지만 장치 터미널을 통해 적용되는 전류 대신 입사광을 사용하여 장치를 전도시키는 개별 감광성 부품입니다. 포토다이오드에 비해 포토트랜지스터는 일반적으로 동일한 강도의 입사광에 대해 훨씬 더 큰 출력 전류를 생성하지만 광도의 변화에 반응하는 속도는 더 느립니다. 이러한 차이점으로 인해 광트랜지스터는 적용하기가 더 간단하지만 고속 작동에는 덜 유용합니다.
