TMS320F28035
The TMS320F28035 is a high-performance 32-bit floating-point microcontroller from Texas Instruments, part of the C2000™ real-time control MCU family. It features a 100 MHz central processing unit (CPU) based on the ARM Cortex-M4 core with floating-point unit (FPU), enabling fast and precise mathematical computations essential for complex control algorithms. The device includes 128 KB of flash memory and 40 KB of RAM, providing ample space for code storage and efficient data handling in embedded applications.
This microcontroller integrates advanced peripherals such as two 12-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), each capable of up to 1 MSPS, supporting high-speed signal sampling for motor control, power conversion, and sensor feedback systems. It also includes three high-resolution pulse-width modulation (PWM) modules, offering precise timing control for driving power electronics like inverters and DC-DC converters. Additional peripherals include a quadrature encoder interface (QEI), timer units, serial communication interfaces (SCI, SPI, I2C), and an enhanced capture module for event detection and synchronization.
Designed for industrial and automotive applications, the TMS320F28035 supports robust real-time performance with deterministic interrupt response times and low-latency peripherals. Its integrated digital signal processing capabilities allow for rapid execution of control loops, making it ideal for field-oriented control (FOC) in brushless DC motors, sensorless motor drives, and power factor correction (PFC) circuits. The device also includes built-in self-test (BIST) features and error-correcting code (ECC) memory protection to enhance system reliability and fault tolerance.
Power management is optimized through multiple low-power modes, including sleep, idle, and deep-sleep states, allowing energy-efficient operation in battery-powered or portable systems. The microcontroller operates across a wide voltage range (3.3 V ±5%) and is available in a compact 64-pin QFP package, facilitating easy integration into space-constrained designs. Comprehensive development tools, including Code Composer Studio™ and support from TI’s ecosystem, accelerate design, debugging, and optimization processes for engineers.
With its combination of high-speed processing, rich peripheral set, and real-time control capabilities, the TMS320F28035 is well-suited for applications requiring precision and responsiveness, such as industrial automation, renewable energy systems, electric vehicle powertrains, and smart instrumentation.
