TMP235-Q1
The TMP235-Q1 is a precision digital temperature sensor manufactured by Texas Instruments, designed for high-accuracy thermal monitoring in automotive and industrial applications. It features an integrated analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that provides 12-bit resolution with a typical accuracy of ยฑ0.5ยฐC over the operating temperature range from โ40ยฐC to +125ยฐC. The device operates on a supply voltage ranging from 2.7 V to 5.5 V, making it compatible with both 3.3 V and 5 V systems commonly found in modern electronic designs.
This sensor supports IยฒC communication at speeds up to 400 kHz, enabling efficient integration into microcontroller-based systems without requiring additional external components. Its low power consumptionโtypically 180 ยตA in active mode and less than 1 ยตA in shutdown modeโmakes it ideal for battery-powered or energy-sensitive applications. The TMP235-Q1 also includes built-in self-test functionality and fault detection mechanisms, enhancing system reliability and safety in mission-critical environments.
Designed to meet AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualification standards, the TMP235-Q1 is suitable for harsh automotive conditions such as engine compartments, powertrain systems, and infotainment units. It offers excellent long-term stability and is immune to electromagnetic interference (EMI), ensuring consistent performance under real-world electrical noise conditions. The deviceโs compact 3x3 mm SON package reduces board space requirements while supporting lead-free soldering per JEDEC standards.
In addition to its core temperature sensing function, the TMP235-Q1 includes programmable alerts via two configurable temperature thresholds: a high-limit and a low-limit interrupt output. These allow the host microcontroller to respond quickly to thermal events without continuous polling, improving system responsiveness and efficiency. The sensor can be configured through software using the IยฒC interface, allowing flexible setup for different application needs.
Its wide operating voltage range, robust design, and low quiescent current make the TMP235-Q1 particularly well-suited for use in electric vehicles (EVs), battery management systems (BMS), motor control circuits, and industrial automation equipment where precise thermal monitoring is essential for safety, performance, and longevity.
