INA241A-Q1
The INA241A-Q1 is a high-precision, low-offset, zero-drift current-shunt monitor from Texas Instruments designed for automotive and industrial applications. It features a wide supply voltage range of 2.7 V to 5.5 V, enabling flexible integration into various power systems. The device offers an ultra-low offset voltage of just 30 µV and a maximum offset drift of 0.1 µV/°C, ensuring accurate current measurement even under varying temperature conditions.
This instrument amplifies the small voltage drop across a shunt resistor with a gain of 20 V/V, making it ideal for sensing currents up to 100 A in high-side or low-side configurations. Its input common-mode voltage range extends from 0 V to 26 V, allowing it to operate effectively in harsh environments such as those found in electric vehicle battery management systems and motor control circuits.
The INA241A-Q1 includes integrated protection features like overvoltage and reverse-voltage protection on the input pins, enhancing reliability in real-world conditions. It also supports rail-to-rail output swing, maximizing dynamic range and minimizing signal distortion. With a bandwidth of 100 kHz, it provides fast response times suitable for closed-loop control systems requiring precise current feedback.
Designed for robust operation in demanding environments, the INA241A-Q1 meets AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualification standards, ensuring long-term reliability in automotive applications. Its pin-to-pin compatibility with other TI current sense amplifiers simplifies design migration and reduces development time. Additionally, the device operates over a wide temperature range from –40°C to +125°C, making it suitable for extreme thermal conditions commonly encountered in automotive and industrial settings.
The INA241A-Q1’s low quiescent current of 180 µA at 5 V enables energy-efficient designs, particularly beneficial in battery-powered systems where power consumption must be minimized. It is available in a compact SOIC-8 package, supporting space-constrained PCB layouts without sacrificing performance. This combination of precision, durability, and efficiency makes it well-suited for use in electric power steering, DC-DC converters, battery pack monitoring, and motor drives.
